Hyperpigmentation is a common problem in people as of the present time and we can blame it on our eating habits and pollution, it is usually a harmless condition in which patches on the skin become darker in color than the normal surroundings of the skin be in on legs, arms or any other part. This process of darkening in the parts of skin occurs when an excess of melanin, that is the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms a deposit in the skin. Hyperpigmentation can affect the skin color of people of any race. Age or “liver” spots are one of the most common forms of hyperpigmentation. They usually occur due to sun damage, and are referred by doctors as solar lenities. These small and dark looking patches are usually found on the hands as well as face or other areas which are frequently exposed to the sunlight and its UV Rays.
The changes seen in skin color can result from a lot many causes. The examples for the same are, skin diseases such as acne may leave dark spots after the condition clears out. Other causes that could be a reason of dark spots are the injuries on the skin, which includes some surgeries as well.
